Merino wool sweater is a Responsible Choice
All North Outdoor sweaters are 100% merino wool and responsibly made in Finland. The ecological aspect of our products is enhanced by the fact that our modern knitting machines allow for minimal material waste, as the products are knit to the correct size instead of being cut. We offer a 100-day satisfaction guarantee for all merino knitwear made in Finland.
Our knitwear range includes earthy tones as well as vibrant and changing seasonal colors. We carefully listen to our customers' preferences in color choices. The size range of our knitwear is also extensive. When choosing the right size, we recommend referring to the size chart provided with the product. It is worth noting that there is always a slight variation in the measurements of knitwear made from natural fibers. However, merino wool knitwear has good elasticity and adapts to the wearer's body during the first few wears.
What Makes Merino Wool knitwear So Special?
There is a difference in the wool sweaters and knitwear available on the market. The most ecological, high-quality, and durable knitwear is made from natural fibers such as merino wool. Thanks to the material we use, all our knitwear is perfectly comfortable to wear and durable. The merino sheep live in exceptional weather conditions, which is why their wool differs from that of other sheep. Merino sheep have evolved over time to thrive in both heat and cold. Knitwear made from merino wool works in the same way as wool on the sheep - it naturally regulates body temperature. Therefore, knitwear made from merino wool is especially warm in winter but also cools in summer. From North Outdoor's knitwear collection, you can find thick sweaters for winter and lighter knits for summer use.
Merino Wool Sweaters are Perfectly Lightweight
One of the superior features of merino wool is its lightweight, making merino knitwear always feel equally light and breathable to wear. Its exceptional lightness also makes merino knitwear a perfect travel companion. Due to the material, the sweater packs into a small space and is easy to carry. As a natural material, knitwear is also naturally antibacterial and refreshes when aired.
Popular Knitwear Styles for Women
The best-selling knitwear from North Outdoor is the polo-necked Halla, which comes in versions for both men and women. The Kuohu sweater has also found its way into our customers' hearts. Among the newest knits, Kide has quickly gained popularity and is one of the lightest knits in North Outdoor's range.
How to Care for Your Merino Knitwear
The most important care procedure for merino wool sweaters is airing. Merino wool is naturally antibacterial, cleaning itself in fresh air. Airing removes even sweat and smoke odors. The material also naturally repels dirt. We recommend washing merino knitwear as rarely as possible and only when the sweater appears to need it. You can wash the sweater by hand with wool detergent or in the machine on a delicate cycle at 30 degrees Celsius. After rinsing, squeeze out excess water from the sweater, for example, using a towel, and shape the sweater to the desired shape. Always prefer flat drying for the sweater.
Slight pilling is characteristic of new merino wool knitwear and is caused by loose wool fibers. Pilling can be prevented by removing loose fibers from the surface of the sweater with a clothing brush. You can also use a lint shaver to remove pills. Pilling will decrease over time. ★★★★★The Halla merino sweater has been in almost daily use since it arrived. It has become one of my favorite sweaters—warm, great design and fit, and a beautiful color.

★★★★★My first merino wool sweater, and certainly not the last! I haven't worn any other tops since I got Pihla! Beautiful knit, great tunic length, and comfortably warm without being too hot now that there's snow on the ground. The blackcurrant color is truly beautiful.

★★★★★Lovely, warm, retains its shape, non-itchy, and a beautiful textured knit... I can't find anything negative to say, and this easily became my favorite sweater, worn weekly. I usually wear size S, but for a snug fit, XS was the perfect size. I might have to get another color!

★★★★★This dress effortlessly claimed the title of my favorite. The fit is spot-on (went a size up for that relaxed vibe), the material strikes the perfect balance between snug and stretchy, and the slightly higher collar is just what I wanted. The color is absolutely lovely, and the 'cuff' at the bottom adds structure to the design. Truly the best dress.
