Why North Outdoor?

North Outdoor is a Finnish merino wool clothing brand. Every garment, detail and purpose of use is designed in Finland for the varying conditions of the north. North Outdoor is from Oulu, where the cods of the Pärämere and the northern fell winds offer their colorful show in four different seasons.

The capricious weather conditions have inspired us to design and manufacture products that serve versatile use every day of the year; whether it's freezing cold, drizzle, autumn storm or sweltering heat. Products made with uncompromising professionalism are tested in nature's own laboratory and offer comfort that adapts to temperatures and natural protection against the elements.

My own knitting shop

We have made a unique investment for a clothing brand and built our own knitting mill in Oulu. Our own knitting shop is a dream come true for us and we are proud that we can manufacture world-class merino clothing in Finland. High-quality knitwear from the Nature collection is currently being produced from our own production.

Merino wool changes the world

North Outdoor's main raw material is responsible merino wool. We have wanted to learn everything about merino wool because we believe that its great properties have not been fully exploited. The material itself offers the same properties that sportswear designers have been aiming for for years. Merino wool adapts in a unique way to the characteristics of both the user and the environment.

Merino wool is breathable, light and warm. Thanks to its antibacterial properties, odors do not stick to clothes. Merino wool fiber is thin and flexible compared to traditional northern sheep wool. Due to its exceptional structure, very thin and soft knitwear can be made from merino wool. Merino wool clothes are perfectly suited for outdoor, sports and everyday use.

The wool in our products is mulesing-free and our textiles are Ökö-Tex certified. The merino wool yarns we use in the clothes are Woolmark certified. Every garment made of merino wool reduces the plastic load of the textile industry. As a natural material, merino wool is also completely biodegradable.

Nordic minimalist

North Outdoor products represent timeless urban outdoors and their design language is Nordic minimalist.

North Outdoor manufactures multi-purpose clothing for consumers who are active and enjoy outdoor activities. The collection includes sweaters, hoodies, t-shirts, underwear, beanies, socks, gloves and casual dresses, pants and shorts.

Whatever the weather or the purpose of use, we want to offer everyone clothing that allows you to enjoy life, exercise and nature without the limitations of the conditions every day of the year.

In a challenging environment, adaptability is key, and that's why we make our products to perform excellently in every weather and situation. We believe that merino wool is the world's most versatile material, but also the easiest to care for. You don't really need to wash it.
