Merino wool t-shirts – one shirt that works all year round
A merino t-shirt is not only a summer garment. The fibre holds up to 30% of its own weight in moisture without feeling wet, and it slows down odour build-up – so the same shirt works in the heat, as a base layer in autumn and under a knit in winter. The merino in our t-shirts measures 17.5–19.5 microns, roughly a third the thickness of ordinary sheep's wool.

Does a merino t-shirt itch?
Prickle comes from wool fibres over 30 microns, which do not bend against the skin but press into it. The merino in these shirts is 17.5–19.5 microns, so it bends softly and does not trigger a prickle response in most people. Skin sensitivity is individual, however.
Which fabric weight should you choose?
The micron count tells you about softness, the fabric weight about warmth. They are two different things, and it is worth keeping them apart when choosing.
- 150 g/m² – the lightest option. For summer, sport and as a base layer.
- 200 g/m² – the everyday weight. Works on its own and under a knit.
- 250–260 g/m² – the heaviest. Warm on its own in cool weather.
Is a merino t-shirt good in summer?
Yes. Merino moves moisture away from the skin and feels dry to the touch even when you sweat. It also slows odour build-up, so the same shirt lasts more wears than a cotton one – which is particularly useful when travelling.
Merino t-shirts for women and men
The range covers short and long sleeves, tops and polo shirts in both fitted and relaxed cuts. For a base layer, choose a close-fitting model so the fabric can move moisture and no excess material chafes.
How do you wash a merino t-shirt?
At 30 °C on a wool or delicates programme, with a wool detergent at pH 7 or below. No fabric softener and no tumble dryer. Most of the time no wash is needed at all – airing is enough.
Responsibly sourced merino wool
We use only mulesing-free merino wool. All our products are OEKO-TEX® STANDARD 100 certified, which means an independent institute has verified that they contain no substances harmful to health in skin contact.
