Lightweight merino knits – warmth without the bulk
A lightweight merino knit keeps you warm without you noticing it. The crimp of the merino fibre keeps the knit lofty, so it traps air – and air is the most effective insulator there is. That is why a 150–200 gram knit warms considerably more than its weight suggests, and still fits under a jacket.

When is a lightweight merino knit the right choice?
When the temperature swings over the course of a single day. A lightweight knit works on its own indoors, under a jacket outdoors and as a mid layer when it turns colder. A heavy knit is warmer, but it does not adapt from one situation to the next in the same way.
Does a lightweight merino knit itch?
Prickle comes from wool fibres over 30 microns, which do not bend against the skin but press into it. The merino fibre in these knits is well below that, so it bends softly and does not irritate the skin of most people. Skin sensitivity is individual, however.
Will a lightweight knit last?
It will. The crimp of merino wool runs at 80–150 degrees per millimetre, which means the fibre behaves like a small spring and returns to shape after wear. A merino knit does not stretch out and sag the way many other natural fibres do.
How do you care for a lightweight merino knit?
Merino wool cleans itself by airing, so it rarely needs washing. When a wash is needed: 30 °C, wool or delicates programme, a wool detergent at pH 7 or below, no fabric softener and no tumble dryer. Some knits are hand wash only – always check the care label on the garment.
Responsibly sourced merino wool
We use only mulesing-free merino wool in our products. Some of our knits are knitted to their final shape in our own knitting facility in Oulu, Finland, which means no cutting waste is created at all.
