Free diver Johanna Nordblad does not cold water - the meriner is also Johanna's favorite
SJohanna Nordblad from Uomana swims in natural waters throughout the year. The owner of the world record for ice diving is completely in the cold waters in its element.
Insights of life
The everyday moment in the meeting turned into a major turning point in Johanna's life. Instead of focusing on the subject, Johanna drew a meeting. The picture read, "I thought about doing what I wanted." The drawing seemed meaningful. At that moment, an accidentally created picture opened Johanna's mind and brightened the wishes.
“I saved that picture. I knew I wouldn't forget about this thing. You should not waste life by doing things you don't want to do, ”says Johanna about her awakening.
The big change in life was as physical as mental. In addition to the meaningfulness of the work, Johanna's life was influenced by nerve pain, which had been left behind in 2010 an accident in downhill biking. Even though the foot had been saved, nothing was as before. Pain had become a significant part of life.
In 2013, Johanna decided to try cold treatment for prolonged pain instead of medication. Johanna had heard that yellows have a lot of health effects. What started swimming in the cold foot in cold water soon continued with cold water swimming. That story never ended.
“I believe that the speech on the influence of cold water is true. I got rid of the pain, ”says Johanna.
Cold water swimming became a big part of life. It took so strongly as it went that the work at the advertising agency had to stay behind.
Diving is also linked to all of this. Johanna left the scuba diving back in 2000. After getting to know cold water treatments, free supply became a job for Johanna. In Finland, water is cold or cold for most of the year. Today, Johanna produces various underwater descriptions and productions and directs free diving. There is also a mobile app where you can learn your breath.
“Of course, my work and leisure time takes free diving, where I also compete sometimes. However, in addition to work, it is also a way for me to relax, spend time in the wild and hang out with friends. Bathing always makes me in a good mood. The colder the water, the better the mind, ”laughs Johanna.
"The colder the water, the better the mind."
In free diving, my own mind plays a big role
Although Johanna enjoys cold water, cold water feels cold. The accumulation of carbon dioxide in the body also feels. Free diving means diving without equipment. Without a bottle of compressed air, carbon dioxide begins to accumulate in the body during a minute of breathing. Feeling badly due to the arrest of breath is not due to the lack of oxygen but that carbon dioxide cannot be eliminated. That is why it is important to know what is happening in the body. You should not give your imagination.
“In long dives, the biggest opponent is his own mind. You have to learn to know yourself really well in order to dive safely. The messages brought by the body must be able to read very carefully. How long can you retain your breath, or how cold affects your vital functions. Messages must not be confused with opinions or emotions. Raw data must be received as it is. Just like a breath, cold water also feels a lot. When combining cold water and life, you really have to be able to focus on the moment and listening to yourself, ”Johanna opens her sport.
When Johanna started diving in cold water, you had to learn how to feel just before you start exciting. At the same time, the process of identifying emotions was difficult but interesting.
“If you lose relaxation and do not believe in yourself, diving becomes impossible. And not just mentally. But also physically. If I am excited, the body will not save oxygen at any point diving. Oxygen consumes a lot, diving does not become long, and it is almost impossible to define during diving because you have to get up, ”says Johanna.
Because cold water slows down vital functions like a diving response, diving easily begins to tense before running.
The bottom of Johanna's training is firmly in the breathing exercise. At the same time, they learn how to manage knowledge. The retention of breathing also stimulates the parasympathetic nervous system, leaving the stress and keeping the mind good.
“Finnish nature is wonderful and the climate gives more dimensions to free diving and all the hobbies. The same places are changing and the experience is completely different at different times of the year, ”says Johanna.
Deep -relaxation
Johanna says that studies have shown that breathing retention exercises improve oxygen uptake. The body's ability to use oxygen improves when the carbon dioxide level can keep high during any performance. Exercises have other special effects. For example, a life arrest triggered the production of the body's own epo-hormone. However, for Johanna, the most important thing in practice is their relaxation.
“The best thing about free diving is a deep state of relaxation. The fact that every time I dive, something happens deep inside me. My mind is empty. Motivation is high for everything, ”says Johanna.
Johanna is happy to correct the misconception that free diving is an extreme species. His experience is the opposite. The goal of everything is relaxation.
“It's great that the same techniques that I use to control my mind also work in the ordinary everyday challenges. If I want to relax, I can relax my mind by relaxing my body with my breath exercise, ”says Johanna.
Exercises are not drilling. Cold water swimming and free diving feel like John, above all, play. He does not feel that he had to go to train separately.
Johanna is quite relaxed for the world record for ice diving. He sums up his great attitude: “If someone is fun, he likes to do a lot. And if you practice something more than others, you usually know things better than others. ”
Ferocious world record
Johanna's latest record is the world record of the diving from the opening to the opening with just a swimsuit. Exceptionally, the record is 103m, that is, longer than men's previous record.
Johanna knows that it is not easy to make records. He feels that motivation is the most important thing in setting a record.
“First you should come up with why you would like to try a record. Then one should come up with how everyday training becomes so that you wouldn't want to skip it at any price, ”says Johanna about the process.
According to Johanna's idea, learning is finding. It is a real joy to learn how to understand what you can't do yet. Because then you can start learning it.
“Setting goals gives you a good excuse to try your best. If you know you can do something and decide to do it, is that the right goal? If you don't know you can do something and decide to find out how to do it. I would call it a goal, ”says Johanna.
Johanna wants to set goals for himself, because then you do not know in advance what things to learn along the way. He believes that all the things you can't do are difficult. And as soon as they learn, they become easy.
At the moment, Johanna has no new big goals in mind: “My goal is to not invent the goals for a year. Enjoy small simple everyday things, ”laughs Johanna.
Life happens outdoors
An active and athletic woman enjoys both quiet and fast -paced sports. Johanna's list is quite diverse. The most important thing in choosing the sport is that time can be spent outdoors and in nature. To counterbalance silent species such as hiking, mountain biking and snowboarding, Johanna is happy to drive in the woods by Trial motorcycle or enduro and by sea on a rib boat.
“I spend a lot of time at sea, and when you are properly dressed, it doesn't hurt to see what the weather is like. For example, long canoeing trips would be absolutely impossible to implement without wool products. The good thing about Merino wool is that it does not stitch the skin, even if it is wet, ”says Johanna.
Johanna has used wool products since the age of 20. He praises the expansion of the selection over 25 years. Good and warm equipment allows you to move outdoors, regardless of the season.
“North Outdoor underfloors are my latest favorite. They are soft and elastic. They are well suited for hobbies and everyday life. I even used them secretly under the party dress, ”laughs Johanna.
In the picture, Johanna is wearing an Intense Pro lineup merino.
